Determining Pay Rates
The rate of pay for each job is determined by the specific responsibilities of the job as stipulated in the job description on file at the Student Employment Office. At the University of Richmond, we have a four-tier wage rate structure. The pay rates and criteria for each rate are as follows:
Pay Rates & Job Responsibilities
Level I
$6.55/hour skills and knowledge which can be learned on the job, some independent decision-making in areas with low accountability, moderate level of responsibility and judgment for a variety of tasks, tasks which may be manual and/or repetitive in nature. The Fall 2009 rate will be $7.25.
Level II
$7.05/ hour skills at a level higher than those that can easily be learned on the job, independent decision-making on routine tasks with moderate accountability, sound judgment in supervisor's absence, general instruction from supervisor with little follow-up required. The Fall 2009 rate will be $7.75.
Level III
$7.55 / hour skills beyond those typically expected of an undergraduate student, independent problem-solving to complete tasks with high accountability, initiative and decision-making in planning and prioritizing work load of self and other student employees, strong analytical abilities, demonstrated leadership abilities, minimal supervision on routine tasks; some follow-up on highly complex tasks. The Fall 2009 rate will be $8.25.
Level IV
$9.30 / hour highly specialized skills with no additional training needed to complete highly complex tasks, independent judgment in decisions with high accountability and confidentiality, high degree of mental activity, may involve a great deal of supervisory duties. The Fall 2009 rate will be $10.00.
Summer Wages
The wage rates for hourly, web time entry jobs that are paid with university funds increase by $3.00/hour over the spring rates . This increase is in effect for any hours worked on or after May 3rd, 2009 and will return to the above rates as of August 23, 2009.
