Definitions and Other Things to Know

Managers: Ensures that I-9 is complete before the student employee's first day of work, completes Hiring/Add Job/Change Job tasks, and reviews and approves timesheets.

Position Management vs Job Management (JM)

  • Position Management: UR staffing Model for full-time staff and faculty

  • Job Management: UR Staffing Model for all student employement and for some temporary staff and faculty

Student Employment Coordinator (SEC): Assists manager in submitting job requisitions, hire tasks, add and change job tasks.

Supervisory Organization ("Sup Org"): The organizational structure in Workday that connects workers to their manager and to the manager’s unit within the organizational hierarchy of the department. 

  • To supervise student employees, you must be a manager of a job management (JM) sup org, which is indicated in the name of the organization in Workday (ex. Student Worker-JM).

Timekeeper: Assists manager in reviewing timesheets and assists student employees in correcting timesheets.
